I was at the last Summit and there was a summit social and book signing. What are the plans for this year’s conference?

We have some new and exciting events at the 2012 Summit. There will be a social networking experience at the opening event on Thursday evening immediately following the Welcoming Address with Sue Johnson, and on Friday, we will enjoy a performance by professional Tango dancers and will join Sue and Friends for Love Lost and Found, New York Stories.

Also, be sure to check out the EFT Community Bulletin Board in the registration area where we will post flyers for special interest groups and contact individuals.  These groups can plan to meet during break times at the conference.  Groups will include LGBT (Stephen McDonnell, stephen.mcdonnell@me.com), International (Judith Kellner, jkellner@judithkellner.com), List Serve/Self of Therapist (Karen Giunta, kgiuntalmft@snet.net), Co-Therapy: Couples Treating Couples (Mary and Parker Stacy, pstacy@optonline.net), NYCEFT Members (tbd).

What is Emotionally Focused Therapy?

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is the best model of couples therapy available. Sue Johnson is one of the originators and the main proponent of Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (EFT), developed in the early 1980′s.   It is a research based model of therapy, proving highly effective. 70-75% of couples move from distress to recovery, and approximately 90% show significant improvements. There’s no need in seeing your clients break up, when they can get better!

Where can I get more information about EFT?
